CCTV stands for Closed Circuit Television is best known for its use in surveillance cameras. CCTV systems are used for security purposes including your own property. By definition, video cameras are used to send a signal to a monitor kept elsewhere. These cameras are generally used for security reasons in places like airports, banks, military installations, casinos, and convenience stores.
The most important one is: CCTV cameras can be kept everywhere. So, if the crime was committed the culprit is finally caught.
An obvious advantage is that the cameras use wireless technology to accomplish the task, and so the lack of wiring is not an issue. Another advantage is to make the clarity of the images that are closed. Most of these wireless devices are high-resolution images, making it easy to recognize faces and other physical characteristics. This makes the camera suitable for use in safety research institutes and other institutions. Security personnel can easily monitor all activities in the range of cameras, and clearly note any suspicious activity or unauthorized, but to have a clear picture of who performs the operation.
Recording is another advantage of these wireless CCTV systems. In the past, records storage can be a chore. VHS tapes, storage could become a problem. Nowadays, CDR technology made the possibility of storing the supervision for more number of hours on a single disc. This can be critical for security officers.
Very importantly, these new models are generally less expensive than most people think. In fact, there installation is even easier than the wired one. As a result, it is not surprising that more and more people are choosing to go wireless for their needs security camera.
Now, it’s time to talk about the potential weaknesses of IP cameras compared to other closed-circuit cameras.
First one is they are expensive does not always work (since they are not placed in the right places) and to manipulate individual privacy. We have less choice of producers. These cameras also lack in standards; in terms of compatibility. One technical barrier for the layman, requires complex network setting such as IP address, DDNS, port forwarding and router configuration. These are also having the less dynamic range.
Also, these systems are vulnerable to hacking, and hoaxing via internet.
